Where is Praiano?

Praiano is located on the Amalfi Coast. It Is often overshadowed by the nearby towns of Positano and Amalfi.

Though there is no direct ferry to the town, it is easily accessible by car or public transit. If you are driving, follow the SS163. If you are travelling by public transit, take the bus that goes through Sorrento, Positano, and Amalfi.

What is there to do in Praiano?

Praiano may be a small town, but it doesn’t fall short on scenery and adventures. Aside from dining at charming village restaurants and enjoying the coastal views, there are a few things you must do while visiting Praiano.

Take a dip at the Marina di Praia Beach

Dramatic, steep rocky cliffs border the Marina di Praia Beach on either side. The small beach is lively with colourful boats, sunbathers, and people cooling off in the water. Due to the cliffs, the beach only gets sunlight for a few hours each day.

There is a path to the right of the beach, which you can take to view the ancient Torre a Mare. You can also grab a refreshing meal or drink from the local restaurants and cafes lining the beach. You can’t go wrong with a glass of Italian wine and a stunning coastal view!

Visit the Church of San Gennaro

The Church of San Gennaro is a gorgeous baroque building. It went through many reconstructions and renovations over the years. Today it stands tall with a bell tower and a gorgeous, tiled copula. Inside the cathedral, you’ll find more intricate tiles, terracotta floors, and a range of decorated alters.

There are occasional events hosted in the plaza outside of the church. If you’re visiting Praiano, you may come across a lively concert or festival in the plaza.

Hike the Path of the Gods

This one isn’t exactly in Praiano but it’s pretty close. The Path of the Gods is a scenic hiking trail that can be accessed by a public bus or an uphill hike from Praiano. The trail is well-marked and winds through the Lattari Mountains.

The trail starts in Bomerano and leads to Positano. On a four-hour walk along the trail, you’ll be surrounded by breathtaking views. From the trail, you can see charming coastal towns, towering cliffs, and the sparkling blue ocean. You are likely to come across other hikers and people birdwatching.
