There are plenty of things to do in the capital city of the Tuscany region. From delicious food to incredible art and gorgeous scenery, the city of Florence has lots to offer.

There is so much to do, that it can be difficult to know where to begin. Read on for an idea of how to spend a day in Florence.

7:30am: Breakfast
There are many charming cafes and eateries located in the centre of Florence. Start the day with a delicious pastry and some coffee. Or wake up before the rest of the city and take a scenic morning stroll.

8:30am: Accademia Gallery
After breakfast, make your way to your first stop of the day: the Accademia Gallery! The gallery opens at 8:15am, so you have some wiggle room if you decide to arrive early. You will need one to two hours to explore the gallery. It is only two floors high, but there is so much incredible art to see, including Michelangelo’s David statue.

10:00 am: Florence Duomo
The Duomo is a stunning cathedral located in the centre of Florence. You will need two to three hours to explore this location. From viewing the art in the interior to climbing Giotto’s Bell Tower and taking in the city views, there is a lot to see!

Noon: Piazza della Signoria
The Piazza della Signoria is a great place to grab lunch and take a short stroll around. You will see the historic Palazzo Vecchio and can visit the museum inside if you would like. There is also a large fountain and fascinating outdoor sculpture gallery that you can check out called the Loggia dei Lanzi.

1:00pm: Uffizi Gallery
The Uffizi Gallery is located just off the Piazza della Signoria. It is a stunning art gallery that contains over 100 rooms that are filled with incredible works of art. You will need three to four hours to explore this gallery if you truly want to see it all.

4:00pm: Gelato
What’s a visit to Italy without some gelato? Take a break to enjoy some gelato and stroll the charming laneways or relax by the river.

5:00pm: Ponte Vecchio
You will need about an hour to explore Ponte Vecchio. It may be a bridge but there is so much more to it. There are little shops and it is a great place to look out over the river.

6:00pm: Dinner
After a full day of exploring, it is time to relax and grab some food. Enjoy dinner at one of the many restaurants located along the river and take in the scenery around you. From the historic architecture to the vibrant atmosphere, there is a lot to enjoy.
