Italy is renowned for its fabulous food and wine culture, but any serious gastronome shouldn’t overlook the Chianti hills region. Designated as the country’s first protected wine region back in 1716, this long history has contributed to an incredible wealth of historic wine estates and olive groves that produce some spectacular flavours. On this small group Chianti winemaking and dinner tour, we’ll board a minivan and escape the streets of Florence as we go in search of the red wine that put this place on the map.
Adventure through the rolling hills and delve into the picturesque landscape, as our destination just happens to be one of the region’s most celebrated wineries. Led by a professional sommelier guide, this tour is perfect for beginners and seasoned wine drinkers alike as we discover the flavours and aromas of this world-class winemaking institution. Throughout this visit, you’ll get to learn the secrets behind the production of Chianti wine, the varied aromatic and acidity combinations, and even produce your own bottle of wine.
It’s not just the vino that makes Tuscany exceptional, but also the remarkable flavours of the local food. While you’re busy learning the ins and outs of top-notch wine, you’ll also have plenty of opportunities to snack on locally made olive oil and unsalted bread that is simply delicious. We’ll also sit down for a hearty five-course meal in the winery’s stunning restaurant that comes complete with a tantalising wine pairing.
Your meal will include a selection of cured meats, fresh cheese, and a Tuscan-style dessert that completes this rousing feast. During your dinner, there are five individual wines to try, including the famous Chianti and Super Tuscans varieties. There are also great vegetarian options, so please let us know if this is something you require.
