Explore the enchanting waterways of the Grand Canal
See the wonderful landmarks of Venice and explore the twisting passageways of the narrow side canals on this 30-minute gondola ride. Hop aboard your shared vessel and set sail into one of the most memorable parts of your Venetian adventure.
After meeting outside the Museo Correr, you will make your way to your gondola. Settle into your comfy seat and relax as your gondolier takes you past some of the incredible sights of Venice. Admire Mozart’s House and then pass by the Teatro La Fenice, one of the most famous operatic venues in Italy. From there you will continue along the small, intimate canal of De le Ostreghe until you emerge into the iconic Grand Canal where you will see the beautiful Peggy Guggenheim Collection.
As you travel along the Grand Canal toward its entrance you will see the ornate stonework of the Santa Maria della Salute, more commonly known as the Salute. This church, with its white exterior and gleaming domes, was built for the Madonna in 1630 in exchange for her intervention in the plague of the city and, as you can see, no expense was spared. Neighbouring this incredible church is the gallery of Punta della Dogana. As you drift this magnificent building, glance up to see the two Atlases holding a golden sphere on which sits Fortune.
Close to the entrance of the Grand Canal you will be able to view the building that was the symbol of Venice’s powerful empire, the Doge’s Palace. Home to the Doge of Venice for hundreds of years, the palace’s exterior boasts a rich mix of colonnades, latticed brickwork, and statues. Standing at 99metres high and watching over the surrounding buildings you will see Saint Mark’s Belltower, a beautiful building that will end your gondola tour spectacularly.
Throughout your journey, you will also be able to access a mobile guide that will explain all the palaces and attractions around you to ensure that you don’t miss out on anything along the way.
