Guided tour of Pompeii - Explore the tragic ruins of this city!
Enjoy the stunning view of Pompeii from the peak of Mount Vesuvius
The signs of Italy’s antique past are simply bursting out of the ground all over the country. And nowhere is this fact more obvious than at the historic archaeological site of Pompeii. This one-day tour will see you discovering everything you need to know about the city’s tragic past and how it came to be buried by volcanic ash for more than 1700 years.
The Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius Tour begins in Sorrento or Naples where you’ll board our comfortable coach and make the journey to the ancient city of Pompeii. Along the way, you’ll get to admire the picturesque Italian countryside and the many charming towns dotted throughout the sun-drenched rolling hills.
Accompanied on your journey by an expert local guide, once you arrive at Pompeii, you’ll head straight into the ancient city as our Skip the Line tickets let you bypass the long queues. As you make your way up and down the remarkably preserved cobblestoned streets, history buffs will be fascinated by the surviving ruins that were once bathhouses, bakeries and even brothels. Your dedicated guide will be on hand to answer any questions you might have, while they’ll also pass on the captivating stories behind the landmarks that make this place so special.
Pompeii provides an insight into antiquity like few other places around the world – and you’ll get to spend two hours discovering all of its incredible history. At this point in the tour, we’ll take a break for lunch as we prepare to make the 1,000-metre climb to the peak of Mount Vesuvius.
This might be the very same volcano that condemned Pompeii in 79 AD, but nowadays it’s perfectly safe to explore as we take a 30-minute walk and soak up its incredible lookout points. Offering unbeatable views of Pompeii and the Gulf of Naples, it’s well worth the effort.
Lookout for an alpine guide, who’ll teach you about the history of Mount Vesuvius and the astonishing power that lays dormant beneath its volcanic rock. As the tour comes to a conclusion, we’ll make our way back down the mountain and load on to our relaxing transport as you’ll be whisked back to your departure point.
