Undoubtedly one of the ancient world’s most compelling places, Pompeii is renowned around the world as somewhere that visitors can truly experience an ancient location that’s both engaging and immersive. This day-long journey to Pompeii from Naples will have you exploring the wonderfully preserved city streets, while we’ll also head up to the peak of Mount Vesuvius and get a better look at the volcano that was responsible for the city’s destruction and the incredible views beyond.
Climb aboard our comfortable transport and enjoy the extraordinary scenery as the drive to Pompeii features an array of vistas along the way. Once we reach the centuries-old city, your expert tour guide will be on hand to offer you fascinating insight into the stories and places that can still be experienced throughout the city streets. Delving into the baths, bakeries, brothels and villas, the cobblestoned streets of Pompeii are a delight to explore in-person and a truly once-in-a-lifetime adventure as you learn how they became buried in volcanic ash in 79 AD.
Once we’ve finished roaming the city’s many ancient locations and gazing up at its awesome collection of monuments, we’ll grab a bite to eat before boarding the bus once more and driving to the nearby volcano of Mount Vesuvius. As we stop close to the peak, we’ll take a 30-minute stroll to the very top where you can enjoy the striking views that stretch across the city far below and out to sea from your lofty vantage point. Look out for an alpine guide who will inform you about the history of the volcano, while there’s also plenty of opportunities for free time as you soak up the hillsides and the outstanding panoramic views.
As our eight-hour tour comes to a conclusion, we’ll make the short walk back down the volcano to the coach and get back on the road to have you quickly back at your departure point.
