For lovers of art and culture, Florence is surely one of the top destinations you can visit. According to UNESCO, the city centre is literally priceless with its museums, churches and artworks coming together to form an immeasurable wealth. On this afternoon sightseeing tour, we’ll pay a visit to Florence’s most celebrated Renaissance-era landmarks and immerse ourselves within the beautiful city streets.
Meet your dedicated local guide as we begin this tour at the Repubblica Square, a gorgeous area overflowing with quaint cafés and shops. Moving through the bustling streets to the picturesque riverfront promenade of Lungarno Torrigiani, we’ll get a spectacular view of the Ponte Vecchio. This famous medieval bridge stretches across the Arno River and offers an interesting selection of shops and eateries. Meanwhile, as you explore, your guide will detail the ancient history of this structure, including how it was spared from being bombed during World War II.
Our next stop is the centre of Florence’s social and cultural circle – the Piazza della Signoria. This is where you’ll get to see many of the city’s most popular landmarks, including the Palazzo Uguccioni, the Tribunale della Mercanzia, and the Loggia dei Lanzi, which is also where you’ll find Cellini’s towering bronze statue known as ‘Perseus with the Head of Medusa’.
Our last stop on this whirlwind tour of Florence is the world-famous Uffizi Gallery. Spread across two levels, this is the home of Renaissance art with masterpieces taking over every single space. Founded in 1581, the Uffizi Gallery has stood the test of time and today features astounding artworks, such as Botticelli’s ‘Birth of Venus’, Leonardo’s ‘Annunciation’ and Michelangelo’s ‘Tondo Doni’. A fitting way to conclude our exciting day out exploring everything Florence has to offer, you’re free to stay and roam the Uffizi Gallery until closing time.
