Towering above the Florentine skyline, the Duomo is truly the centrepiece of the city. This 90-minute tour will have you discovering all of its secrets – inside and out – as you visit parts of the Duomo that others simply don’t get to see. Exclusive to this tour, head to the top of Brunelleschi’s 32-metre tall cupola and peer out across the city as you get to explore the secret rooftop terraces that are typically closed to the public.
Firstly, meet your professional tour guide and skip the line as our tickets allow you to enter the Duomo instantly. Inside, you’ll immediately notice the ‘Last Judgement’ – a vibrant 16th-century fresco that was started by Giorgio Vasari and finished by Federico Zuccari.
We’ll then head for the rooftop terraces so that we can get an outstanding perspective of the striking terracotta dome. Ascend the 153 steps and you’ll be greeted by daylight as you step out onto the northern terrace that offers picturesque panoramic views of Florence. Normally off-limits to visitors, it’s not often that you have the chance to get this close to a truly extraordinary relic of the past.
Next, it’s time to move into the Circular Room, the place where many of the historic statues that formally graced the Duomo’s beautiful facade are kept. Generally closed to visitors, our tour lets you head inside and observe the professional restorers who are hard at work returning these statues to greatness. Our last stop sees us climb to the peak of the cupola and experience the wonderful 360-degree views on offer. Meanwhile, you can also get a closer look at the fresco that first welcomed you into the Duomo.
Undoubtedly one of Florence’s most awe-inspiring buildings, this exclusive tour of the Duomo takes your visit to the next level as you get a special experience that you’ll almost certainly remember forever.
