From world-class galleries to fascinating historical landmarks, Florence is one of the best cities anywhere on the planet for those who love to explore art and culture on their travels. Led by a professional guide, this lively tour sets out to make it easy for you to visit all of the city’s remarkable marvels within just one day.
There’s no better way to start the day than gazing out across the extraordinary Florentine skyline. To do so, we’ll head straight for the Piazzale Michelangelo, which is a wonderful terraced vantage point that features fully panoramic city views. We’ll also get another striking perspective from the hillside town of Fiesole with its lofty position on the outskirts of Florence.
Following this awe-inspiring start, we’ll board our comfortable coach and head for the city centre and our tour of the Accademia Gallery. It’s here that you’ll find many of Italy’s most well-known masterpieces – especially those from Michelangelo, including his world-famous statue ‘David’. From the Accademia Gallery, we’ll cut through the city streets and arrive at the Piazza Duomo where we’ll rest and enjoy a delicious Tuscan-style lunch.
Once satisfied, it’s time to continue our Florentine adventure as we set about exploring the jam-packed city centre. From the Basilica of Santa Croce to the massive main square of Piazza della Signoria, you’ll get to learn about the extraordinary history behind these ancient places. We’ll also roam Palazzo Vecchio and take a closer look at the renowned Loggia dei’ Lanzi, a series of towering arches that showcases Cellini’s notable sculpture, ‘Perseus with the Head of Medusa’.
Next, we’ll head around the corner to the Arno River and Ponte Vecchio, one of Florence’s most famous sights. Dating back hundreds of years, this huge bridge stretches across the river and contains a variety of interesting shops and history that you’ll certainly be enamoured with.
Approaching the end of our exciting day out, our final stop will be the Uffizi Gallery. Featuring one of the globe’s foremost collections of Renaissance-era painting and sculpture, it’s a brilliant place to spend a few hours as its stunning corridors include works by the likes of Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Caravaggio and Rembrandt. Once we’ve finished exploring the two large-scale levels, this is where we conclude our comprehensive Florentine journey.
