Consisting of five wonderfully rugged hillside towns, the Cinque Terre coastline is one of Italy’s most beloved summertime destinations. The brightly coloured homes and businesses cling to the steep cliffs as stunning hiking trails offer incredible countryside scenery and sea views. This special one-day tour will have you experiencing the entire region as we delve into Cinque Terre and go in search of its charming coastal delights.
Led by a professional guide, we’ll leave behind the busy streets of Florence and head straight from the coast not long after the sunrise. Our first stops is the village of Riomaggiore – the furthest southern town that dates back to the 8th century. Weather permitting, we’ll climb aboard a boat and admire its charms from the sea.
Our second stop is the village of Manarola and the lush national park that stretches along the hilltops above. Stepping off your comfortable transport, we’ll walk through the quaint farms and olive groves that dot this section as we eventually arrive in Corniglia. The only town here not built directly on the sea, Corniglia is likely going to be the quietest stop on our trip as many tourists head to the beachfronts further along the coast. Once we disembark, we’ll make our way along the famous Lover’s Lane pathway that leads us to the stunning picturesque scenery of the surrounding building of Cinque Terre.
Next, we’ll take a short stroll to the train station, which runs between all five towns, and take a quick ride to Monterosso. Surrounded by towering hillsides, this town is best known for its great sandy beach that is the largest in Cinque Terre. The narrow Monterosso streets are full of interesting shopping boutiques and cafes where you’ll have the chance to rest and enjoy a cold drink.
The final beautiful town on our jam-packed tour is Vernazza. You’ve likely seen photos of its picturesque harbour before, but there’s also an outstanding square that features numerous restaurants and bars. Once we disembark, we’ll make our way back to our starting point and the end of our fantastic day out.
