Designed by a wealth of Italy’s most significant architects, including Michelangelo, gaze up at the Basilica’s soaring ceiling alongside Bramante’s dome, which is still the largest found anywhere around the globe. Kept inside the Basilica is also a wonderful collection of structures produced by Bernini, including the ornate baldachin, the Chapel of the Sacrament and the chair of St. Peter. Meanwhile, you’ll also come across more of Michelangelo’s designs, including his world-famous sculpture, “Pieta.”
