Explore the Roman Forum to explore the city's most memorable monuments including Palatine Hill and Arch of Titus
Enjoy free time to further explore the Roman Forum at the end of the tour
Spend an afternoon exploring the ancient spectacle of the Colosseum as this private tour provides you with the perfect opportunity to delve into history and learn the fascinating story behind one of the world’s most iconic landmarks. Alongside the Colosseum, you’ll also get to explore the centuries-old monuments found throughout the Roman Forum, as your private guide offers you an even more personal experience compared to group tours.
Find yourself gazing at the Colosseum, the 50,000-seat amphitheatre that remains the largest in the world. Despite being more than 2000 years old, it remains in excellent condition as you set about exploring its famous corridors before stepping out onto its sun-drenched terraces. From this lofty lookout point, hear about the gladiators that fought gory battles here, plus learn about the Arch of Constantine and other monuments that you’ll get a great exceptional view over.
Having experienced the fascinating sights of the Colosseum, we’ll head outside and make the short walk to the Roman Forum. Undoubtedly one of the most incredible historic landmarks you can see within Rome, your private guide will lead you to a variety of monuments, including the Curia, the Temple and House of Vestals, the funeral altar of Julius Caesar, the Arch of Titus and several others.
Throughout this three-hour afternoon tour, there’s still plenty of time to take a stroll up Palatine Hill and experience views that stretch across ancient Rome from the spot where Romulus is said to have founded the city. Before we conclude our private tour, we’ll also head to the ruins of the Imperial Palace and see the residences that were built by Emperor Domitian. Our final destination is the nearby Circus Maximus, a sprawling ancient chariot-racing track that was the first and largest stadium created during the Roman Empire. Having experienced an intimate look at the Colosseum and its surrounding landmarks, you’ll have an even greater appreciation for the ancient history of Rome.
