You can spend days roaming the beautiful streets of Florence.

If you can have five days in Florence, we absolutely recommend you do it! This is a perfect way to learn more about the culture and how the residents of Florence live. It also gives you a chance to see more than just the main attractions. There is so much you can see while in Florence, so let’s get talking.

Accademia Gallery

The gallerys’ name may not ring a bell, but it’s the home to the famous white marble statue of Michelangelo’s David.

Aside from David, there are other amazing statues and paintings to see. Across three rooms there’s the Florentine Gothic Gallery. These display 13th and 14th centuries golden altarpieces.

Even though the gallery is quite small, it can take about two hours for you to walk around to see other artworks.

Uffizi Gallery

Uffizi has some must see art pieces scattered throughout the gallery. You’ll find yourself stopping to look at beautiful and iconic pieces by Michelangelo, Da Vinci, Raphael, and Botticelli.

One of the most famous pieces from the Renaissance is Botticelli’s Birth of Venus.

You’ll probably find yourself walking through this gallery for around four hours! But if you find yourself running out of time, you can see the main art pieces within two hours.

Duomo Cathedral

The Duomo is what makes the Florence skyline iconic. Hundreds of years old, the Duomo sits high above all of the other buildings in Florence, easily standing out from afar.

The inside of the Duomo is beautiful, especially the fresco inside of the dome. To get some of the best views of Florence, you can buy a ticket and climb to the top of the dome and overlook the city.

Keep in mind, there is a dress code to enter the cathedral! You’ll need to wear clothing that covers your shoulders and knees.

Should I do any day tours?

Florence is a perfect central spot to do some day tours from. When you’re spending five days here, you can easily fit in a day tour to explore somewhere different!

Pisa

Do a half day tour and visit Pisa! You’ll be able to see the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa and other white marbled monuments.

Tuscany

Spend a full day exploring some of the best parts of Tuscany. Visit beautiful places like Siena, San Gimignano, Pisa, and Chianti.

Chianti

If you love your wine, doing a wine tour of Chianti will be perfect for you. Spend half a day going through the countryside and trying some delicious wines from the local wineries.

Cinque Terre

Discover some beautiful landscapes and colourful houses along the seaside in Cinque Terre. During the one day tour you’ll have time to explore Riomaggiore, Manarola, and Monterosso and even go swimming.

You can spend hours just roaming the streets of Florence and seeing all the beautiful art galleries. If you decide to explore on foot, you’ll stumble upon something new to see. We recommend booking a day tour to see something else and explore more beautiful areas in Tuscany.
