Florence is known for its architecture and art, but what is there to do at night?

When thinking of Florence, you probably picture the incredible art museums or the towering Florence Duomo. Those hot spots are most likely already on your itinerary to visit during the daytime. But once you’ve spent the day exploring Florence, what is there to do at night?

Below are four of the best nightlife hotspots in Florence!

  1. Ponte Vecchio

The most famous bridge in Florence is Ponte Vecchio. It’s a historic bridge that you must cross at least once while visiting Florence.

During the daytime, Ponte Vecchio is buzzing with visitors and tiny shops. Even if you’re not looking to buy anything, experiencing the atmosphere at this bridge is truly something else.

What you may not have known is that Ponte Vecchio is also a popular spot to visit at nighttime. Not only is it the perfect place to watch the sunset, but it’s a great spot to stick around for a while afterwards. As the shops close their doors for the night, the bridge comes to life with a different type of atmosphere. You’ll find the bridge lined with street performers, musicians and other entertainers, drawing in crowds on onlookers!

  1. Piazzale Michelangelo

Another popular sunset spot is the Piazzale Michelangelo. If you take a seat here at dusk, you’ll be able to watch as the sunset basks the city of Florence in vibrant colours.

After the sun sets, you can head to one of the bars or cafes and find yourself surrounded by a lively atmosphere. This is a very popular spot in the evenings, so it’s likely you’ll meet other like-minded travellers throughout the evening!

  1. The San Frediano neighbourhood

If you’re looking to check out some unique and lively bars and restaurants, look no further than the San Frediano neighbourhood. This neighbourhood is known for having some of the hippest bars in Florence. In fact, it was named one of the world’s top 10 coolest neighbourhoods in 2017 by Lonely Planet.

One of the most popular bars in this neighbourhood is the Mad Souls and Spirits bar. It has become one of the trendiest bars over the years, with a menu offering a variety of innovative drinks. This trendy spot comes to life during the evening and is open from 6:00 pm until 2:00 am!

  1. Tenax

Open only on Fridays and Saturdays is the Tenex nightclub. This club isn’t located in the city centre but it is well worth the short taxi ride. It’s a popular nightclub amongst both locals and visitors.

Because of its popularity, this club has been able to bring in legendary DJs throughout the years. It also has an incredible sound system that fully immerses you in the music around you. If we haven’t already convinced you to check out this club, USA Today named it one of the top ten places to party in Florence in 2018.

After spending a day exploring the gorgeous city of Florence, don’t miss out on seeing it come to life at night!
